let's support bees, habitats, and communities together

Bees lie at the heart of our survival. They pollinate 1 in 3 bites of food we eat and are essential to the health and prosperity of countless ecosystems.

However, bees are in peril. According to the Center for Biological Diversity, more than half of North America’s 4,000 native bee species are in decline, with 1 in 4 species at risk of extinction.

The Honeybee Conservancy is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting bees and securing food justice through education, research, habitat creation, and advocacy.

We strive towards a day when all bee populations thrive in protected habitats, and are supported by an engaged global network.

Our Flagship Program: Sponsor-a-Hive

Our annual Sponsor-A-Hive program places native bee homes and honeybee hives with urban gardens, schools, and organizations that grow fresh produce and bolster local ecosystems for communities in need.

By adding safe havens for bees in these environments, fruit and vegetable quality improves and the amount of food grown increases by up to 71%!

“The Sponsor-A-Hive bees really bolstered our yard. Last year we had 150 pounds of strawberries. This year, with the beehives right next to the strawberry field, we harvested over 220 pounds of strawberries! It’s been a great benefit to the farm.”
