The Frozen Honeybee Collection on Etsy

Beetiger, an artist on Etsy, has amazing new honeybee jewelry worth a look. Here is the artist’s statement:

“The honeybee is one of nature’s most beautiful creatures, and her relationship to both the sustenance of the plant world and to the human food supply, both as pollinator and honey producer, is unsurpassed.

In the wintertime, bees cluster together in their hive to keep themselves and their queen warm until the spring thaw and nectar flow. But sometimes a few bees venture outside of the cluster and to the top of the hive in the coldest days here in New York . When I visit the hive in my yard, sometimes I find them frozen there, wings spread, stopped in the moment.

I honor the spirit of the bee and the hive by casting these tiny insects in resin, and setting them in the context of beautiful jewelry. Every detail of the bodies and the wings are very visible, making each item a scientific curiosity and conversation piece as well as a one-of-a-kind adornment.”
